Walk Again: Morrello Clinic Brings Life-Changing Exoskeleton Technology to Wales

Robot helps paralysed people to experience walking for the first time since their injuries / illnesses.

Patients at a clinic in Newport, are fundraising to hire an exoskeleton to help patients using wheelchairs full-time to experience walking again.

The Exomotus M4 is a cutting-edge lower limb exoskeleton designed to assist individuals with neurological conditions in walking. This innovative device offers a range of benefits, including improved mobility, strength, and overall quality of life.

Morrello Clinic is proud to be the only clinic in Wales and one of only a few in the UK  to offer the Exomotus M4, bringing this life-changing technology to the region.

Our fundraising goal is £150,000 to make the Exomotus M4 accessible to more patients. Your donations will help cover the costs of hiring, maintaining, and subsidising patient use of this groundbreaking technology.

Jakko Brouwers, Clinic Director says:

‘The development of rehabilitation robots has really made a step change in recent years. Those who have been following our work will have seen that we have tried several models and types over the years. We feel that this is the first exoskeleton that really makes a difference to people who are living with a long-term neurological condition or those who are still seeking rehabilitation after injury. ‘

We have setup several people with this equipment during a trial phase and the results are remarkable. People are able to achieve hundreds of steps where with conventional therapy they can only achieve a few steps in a therapy session. The cost of the equipment is prohibitive and makes it difficult for people to afford the use.

Benefits of the Exomotus M4

  • Improved Mobility: The Exomotus M4 can help individuals with neurological conditions regain the ability to walk and perform everyday activities.
  • Increased Strength: Regular use can help build muscle strength and improve overall physical function.
  • Enhanced Quality of Life: The Exomotus M4 can boost confidence, reduce isolation, and improve overall quality of life for patients.
  • Potential for Brain Retraining: Some studies suggest that exoskeletons may aid in neuroplasticity, potentially helping individuals relearn walking.

Morello Marvels are grateful for any donation you are able to give to help others experience the ExoMotus M4. Please select the button below (opens in a new tab/window).
