Dean’s Story
September 2, 2024Dean is now retired. He enjoyed walking, cycling and had always been very active in the garden and doing DIY projects around the house.
In October 2022 he had an operation as his spinal cord had herniated and had fused itself to the spine. The operation itself was successful but unfortunately during the operation he had a bleed on the spinal cord which caused paralysis and, as a consequence, he ended up a wheelchair user. Using the exoskeleton enabled Dean to move his body which he hadn’t been able to do since the operation. Having access to the exoskeleton would mean a lot to Dean and others.
Dean says, ‘Looking in the mirror, it’s really good, it’s nice to see my legs actually moving. It just looks and feels like me walking! I spent nearly all my life walking. This brings the memories back of me walking and gives me more enthusiasm for carrying on.’
