Kaid is from Cardiff and was leading a very active life before his injuries 16 years ago. Kaid damaged his spinal cord and is paralysed from his neck down. He is not able to move his legs and has only very limited movements in his arms. He is a big fan of sports and likes to watch live games from the wheelchair stand in the stadium.

Kaid says, ‘It’s the closest I’m going to get to actually walking. Mentally it feels terrific to be able to get back up and to do this movement but also it gives such a positive effect on the body. You give the body a proper workout and have literally stretched every muscle. Regular access would mean a longer life expectancy. You’re stretching your organs, stretching your spine and you’re walking! It gets people up, out of wheelchairs and walking again! As a spinal patient, if I had access to a machine like this, I’d be using it every day. There’s no pain when I’m using it. It’s quite the opposite- it’s just a great feeling.’
