ALFESS™ is a new, innovative solution for foot drop. This device can also be called a Digital Foot Drop Orthosis, FES or Neuro-stimulator. The device assists in lifting the foot when walking, resulting in an improved gait pattern.

The ALFESS device is positioned on the lower limb below the knee. Sensors are strategically applied to the skin, electrical impulses are then sent to the nerves that supply the lower limb muscles and this assists in lifting of the foot. An algorithm compiles information from the sensors, which senses the user’s walking speed and angles of their leg.

The shape of the device provides a smooth and comfortable fit and has a magnetic clasp which makes it easy to don and doff and operate with one hand. The device is easy to charge and has been designed to use bilaterally or unilaterally.
